Seesmic Plugin – TinyURL URL Shortener
So my first foray in Seesmic plugin development was incredibly easy which I attribute to the excellent plugin framework the developers of Seesmic have provided. Originally, I planned on using an unnamed but popular URL shortener service that I use alot but I quickly came across a limitation of Silverlight that prevents this… so I went with TinyURL for my first go round.
So here’s the info to download and install the Seesmic plugin to use TinyURL for URL shortening:
(Download Seesmic Desktop here)
- Download the XAP file here.
- Save this file in the Seesmic plugins folder at “My Documents\Seesmic\Seesmic Desktop 2\Plugins” – Win7 users can copy and paste this into their run: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents\Seesmic\Seesmic Desktop 2\Plugins
- Now just run the application and you should see TinyURL show up as an option for shortening service when posting a link
For those who would like to see the source, you can download it here.
This is my foray into Seesmic plugins and is obviously incredibly simple. I’m eager to continue developing plugins for Seesmic Desktop as I’ve loved the product since I first saw it at PDC09.
Many, many thanks to Tim Heuer and his plugin work with Seesmic Desktop… really helped me understand it all.
